Subiaco is about to garner itself yet another style-o-phile’s dream come true with the arrival of luxury furniture and artwork retailer, ARQ Designs.
ARQ’s founders and management are design heavyweights, the Kurlansky family. Late 1999 saw talented building designer, Yael Kurlansky and her husband Selwyn fill the void in Perth's custom furniture market by launching their own exclusive furniture design service.
ARQ Furniture has been designing and supplying a range of contemporary built-in and moveable furniture to high-profile homeowners in Western Australia ever since.
Yael Kurlansky is no stranger to Design accolades and is riding high after winning the Building Design Associations ‘National Design Excellence Award 2010’ - the BDA’s highest honour. Yael and ARQ work hand in hand on the interior fit-outs of her homes, offering a complete design service to their clients.
Yael and Selwyn’s son Dean joined the team in 2005 when he launched ARQ Artworks, sourcing art for ARQ clients’ homes. Dean's love for art and design had been augmented by extensive travel and visits to international exhibitions, galleries and museums.
After two years immersed in Australia's art and design capital, Melbourne, Dean returns to Perth to spearhead ARQ’s design studio, relocating from Osborne Park to Subiaco because of the area’s renowned fashion, design and artistic influence.
“We want to create a space that is easily accessible to people who appreciate art and design, that showcases our products and design concepts, and that inspires and encourages interaction with other designers,” said Dean.
ARQ's design philosophy is based on the principles of functionality and simplicity. Dean said, “our designs are built around our clients needs, incorporating intelligent features that enhance each client's quality of life, while using luxurious materials to create a warm and sophisticated interior.”
